About

For as long as I can remember, I have loved math. To me, it’s fun and challenging. I smile when I think of doing a math problem. I’m serious! LOL

After tutoring math at 4 different colleges from 1991 to 2008, I discovered that not everyone loves math.

(In fact, some students actually had panic attacks and stayed in a constant anxiety state regarding their math classes. I really did feel bad for them. I may not have math anxiety, but there are other areas in my life that can bring on an attack or two.)

I also discovered that most students did not have the dedication to math. Yeah, I know, some people do have a life. 🙄

Which brings me to the point. . . most of the students I tutored were older than the ones coming in immediately after high school.

These students already had a family, and/or a full time career, and/or “adult” obligations.

These students went back to school or in some cases started college for the first time late in life and found they were “on a new planet.”

I know how they felt, because I was 30 years old when I first stepped foot in a college classroom.

I’m dedicating this site to all of those students going back to school, whether it is to get a GED, a college degree or a technical certificate.

Or maybe students who just like to learn stuff. Here I will concentrate on math because that is where my passion is.

From time to time, I will be posting topics to help the Older Than Average Math Student, as well as any math student who suffers from math anxiety caused by gaps in learning.
